Organic food is healthy because it is free from harmful pesticides and chemicals.  Organic agriculture, however, also benefits the soil.  Healthy soil, in turn, benefits   our livestock, as well as our local plant and wildlife.  Buying organic not only promotes your health but also promotes the health of the whole planet.   A study by the American Chemical Society showed that there is also an increase in antioxidants in organic foods when compared with conventionally grown foods.  The levels of antioxidants in organic corn, for example, were over 50% higher than were found in conventionally grown corn.  According to the study, “the higher level of antioxidants is enough to have a significant impact on health and nutrition.”
